Milk thistle (Silybum marianum) preparations have a long history of use in European medicine, spanning over 2,000 years, particularly in the treatment of liver and biliary tract diseases. According to the US National Formulary, Milk thistle preparations must contain no less than 20% Silymarin, calculated as silybin, silydianin, and silychristin. Treatment with Milk thistle has shown to be safe and well tolerated by individuals.

Bliss (Milk thistle) is indicated for the treatment and prevention of:
- Liver disease (non-alcoholic & alcoholic)

- Liver disease secondary to diabetes mellitus

✔️ Pharmacology:
- Silymarin, a well-known hepatoprotective agent, stimulates RNA polymerase-A, enhances protein synthesis, and aids in regenerating and repairing liver cells.
- Its antioxidant activity, ten times more potent than vitamin E, stabilizes the outer membrane of liver cells, preventing the penetration of toxins and foreign substances.
- Silymarin has a membrane-stabilizing effect, protecting liver cells from damage caused by various factors such as alcohol, organic compounds, viral infections, environmental pollutants, and metabolic byproducts.
- Additionally, it exhibits anti-lipid peroxidative, antifibrotic, anti-inflammatory, membrane-stabilizing, immunomodulatory, and liver-regenerating properties.
